B&H is "famous" for directing you to pages with "product no longer available", I wouldn't mind if their archive pages would retain specs and prices for historical reference but all you get is a "stub" listing. As to 120 Ektachrome, different base thickness, different coating line, and Kodak's recent difficulties with backing paper put this in the "remains to be seen" category.
Bravo darkroommike - that is the first substantive objection concerning a conclusion. If Kodak will give up within some month all what they are planning isn't any more a category "remains to be seen" then it is a little bit more than this :"Game over nothing is to be seen next".
But if not (and I think so) Kodak has a good chance to reformulate a contantly support in additional
emulsions (not Kodachrome no worry about).

I'm not sure why you are trying to pick a fight, my name is not quite John Smith common but it is pretty common, when I Google my name I come up with quite a few hits, there are seven in my home town alone, including a convicted felon and a minor league baseball player, but there is only one "darkroommike" a handle I have used since Hotmail was a thing. Mike King
I don’t really think we need to prove our manhood, if we are male, by using or divulging our real names. My name is quite common too. But I use mine. It’s the only name I know... except a-hole and a few others that I seem to instinctively respond to. I was tempted to change my name because twice I met others with the same name: one was a real a-hole (we actually worked together for a short time) and the other had financial and love-life problems... as evidenced by the number of debt collectors who called me because of his crappy credit... but the worst situation was when his girlfriend called my answering machine to inform him that she aborted their fetal-child. AND MY WIFE HEARD THE MESSAGE FIRST.

I'm not. In post #31 the OP, who knows everything about everything, made fun of another poster's screen name. I found it ironic that someone who blathers incessantly hiding behind their own absurd, anonymous screen name would mock another's 'handle.'

By the way, there's no PHOTRIO member registered as "Mike King," so if you'd like to change how you post here, a request to Sean should do the trick.

Nick Name or real Name but G.G.M.Man is realy special (not so often) but to satisfy your curiosity
I can give you my airforce call sign I just remember :
No it wasn't "Viper" - "Scoofer" - "Griffdog" you may call me "Mike Alpha" and when it will help you and "EVERYTHING is Normal" (an other often used standard phrase I remember) I will read you 5......
(loud and clear) so it is not EVERYTHING caused from the net (long time ago before internet).

What is needed to make ektachrome in 120 besides cutting the roll? Does it require a different base or reformulation?

Sure it will need exact that you mentioned. But a little different base and a perhaps reformulation of the emulsion in regards of different basis for sheed Film isn't that Problem. The main job is done with Ektachrome still now.
And if you remember the great Appolo Mission program of NASA you perhaps remember also the upcomming first Texas instruments calculators.
The same we saw half a year ago with Tmax3200 relaunch from Kodak.
A so called "waste product" (that was the bring back of Tmax3200 in regard of the extensive work on bw basis of Ektachrome).

Your [Trendland] topics are writting in such a gibberish that it only confuses people.

I find this remark not fair.

Obviously you yourself are not a native speaker either, and you even made a mistake in that statement yourself.
Yes, some sentences by Trendland I have to read twice. And a few remain not understandable, but that pales in comparison to the amount he writes.
Apug is an international forum and such difficulties are just part of it.

In number I have more difficulties reading posts of native English speakers. Often I cannot even understand the title. Reason mostly is that they employ slang, which I sometimes even cannot deduce by using specialized dictionaries, but sometimes their English is just poor, as far as I can say.

May be you're right but, I wonder myself about, I realy don't care so much. Later I remembered from postings a year ago - I took care about :" Trendland you indeed got english lessions?"....:cry:!

Wow that wasn't real nice for a (very) short moment.... until I soon realized (with z!) it came from an American. Nothing to say against Americans (realy nothing)...some have a grade and also had the need of forreign language, others are kind and would not state such sort of comments. But that following I should state isn't to all : I've lerarned that (most) Americans are not familiär with any other language (because there is also a need of) but SORRY NOW IT COMES ....most Englishman have
also problems with that (Americans English) and to some the real english isn't coming from over the
ocean and is still remaining native spoken in GB?:errm: Hope D.T. will not hear:sick:!
By the way - that in GB spoken english (Cambridge Certificate English) is also most different to each region in GB and we may say in England the language it is often a form to represent a social status - that's more like in all other countrys (just from my point).
What does this mean in regard to Americans english ? Remember the song : An Englishman in NY:tongue:!

So folks pls.don't care about ! It was Sting - not me:angel:.....

with regards

PS : Agx we know (what is often a need in Europe) that 2. forreign language in most cases. I guess to you it is French ? I had a 3. forreign language (just at school)...Spanish but folks let me tell you my French isn't that bad but I indeed need preparation and it is not my hobby. And if I would travel to Spain
I would better not use my spanish because they would hang me up from conflict of missunderstood.
So keep calm Agx.....

You guys might want to focus your chatter (casual conversation) on photography. Your bias and bigotry is starting to show. Oh my (a colloquialism expressing shock and/or dismay... but sometimes used to express boredom and/or frustration.) Bye.

-) I do not see any bigotry
-) understanding each other is essential for an international forum, and as this issue came up in this thread twice I thought it apt to reply on it here rather than in the feedback forum.

By the way midt Format slide projection !

If one ever remember that quality to be seen with midt Format projection one may ask about the machines for 6x6/4,5x6?
All that stuff is discontinued since more than 10 years. On the other hand these projectors are nearly unbreakable and today you can find such stuff what was more than USD 1200,- from last pricing extreme cheap on EBay auctions.

Coming to the slide mounts wich are not discontinued till now. What may indicate that there are some people remaining in this galaxy who indeed use 120 film for projection. May be some new consumer
will follow.

If you want to have 6x7 in projection you have not to travel to the next Galaxy at once.

But just out of curiosity to the mounts - and possible to other fellows who are allways on the run
(on their way to next good investment). I also remember a treat here there was asked if a Leica M7 can play that role?

The discontinued Gepe 6 x 7 mounts (some are still remaining) are like "G O L D" their pricing comes higher and higher and higher again.
SlidemountMedFormat1-1024x1024.jpg

I remember to find them nearly 2 years ago in a store. The original pricing was USD 24,25 but the local store was informed about discontinuation obviously or he saw other reasons - so he made a special price : USD 7,95 what was still the right price to me:kissing:...

SlideMountMedFormat2-570x570.jpg

Today's pricing is between USD 40,- - USD 50,- so each single mount is around 5bucks :D!

So if you'll need this stuff hurry up folks (I will hold on my ones - no chance:D)

Because with Ektachrome 120 I am sure some smart guys will have 6x7 slide projection more than today.

with regards

PS : Of course we are speaking about a little group of people within this Galaxy

Forgetting to state, may be some people will answer soon " UNDERSTAND - that Ektachome120 will come next year but it is just coming back in a Galaxy near of us ????

No folks - some may doubt on correct triangulation astronomical positioning from Kodak these days,
because their Ektachrome 35mm what have been ordered (and prepayed) isn't shipped till today.
Same as yesterday....:sad::sad::sick:(frustrating).....but when Ektachrome120 will come back next year,
......,.....,,......R E a l y ????:wondering:....? .....it will arrive also in T H I S Galaxy of course.

with regards:wink:

PS : Aliens are not allowed to preorders :pouty:

Basically yes, but do not overlook that for decades slides were mounted this way. There were complete sets to do, even holders to take the mount during sealing. This was even done with 35mm slides.

I see - the idea with such glass plates I got a time ago. I thought about as a last option when EVERYTHING may be discontinued. So seriously what is to do when the last manufacturer discontinued the last E6 film.?
That some of us will definitivly experience in their livetime at final news to E6 Films.
I personally doubt on E6 films in 2038.....!
Some others doubt on c41 films within the next few years - I don't think so. Bw and c41 we will see for sure for a longer while.

So if the last E6 is sold out after discontinuation (let's say in 2026.....:kissing: otimistic forecast) you will soon realize that the last lab will follow half a year later:mad:.
Then you may shot the last 250 E6 out of your freezer :happy::happy::happy: and you will develope them at home. I will not speculate about what the last E6 developer kit then will cost (seriously you can't use such kits in that future because they will be discontinued also:cry:) but if you develope your E6 then
you'll need a couple of mounts to projection.
And in this future all manufacturer would have discontinued 6 x 6 mounts long before the last labs would have closed:sad:......
But then the complete sets you mentioned are still avaible ? Ok perhaps you'll may find them somewere.

with regards

PS : My thoughts on glass plates was to go to a glaziers work shop and ASK for a price calculation from cutting some thousand of it:wink:
Next what would definitive result : to go to a bank and ASK for a short-term loan for 40k ...250films:pinch:...!

The gaffa tape for sticking together I own a comfortable cash still today:whistling::whistling::whistling:
