Efke in HC-110 and XTOL
I just tried two rolls of Efke KB25 out of curiosity. One I developed myself in HC-110 and the other at a lab in XTOL.
Regarding the film curling, I have read of a few things you can do:
- pre wash the film if you develop yourself
- use a hardener (I didn't though)
- hang dry with a weight on the end (I did)
- cut and insert into archive folders and enclose in a book
The roll I developed myself didn't have any curling issues. I just used a weight on the end as it hung. Note though that it was a few days before I got around to scanning.
The roll done at the lab was excellent! I may just buy a 100 foot roll of this stuff. Its very sharp and has beautiful tone. Lastly, but not least important, it scans very well, even on my so-so Epson 4180.
One of the criteria I use for selecting film was how well my whole process worked, including scanning.
Best of luck.
