Handcuffs and a darkroom. What's the connection? Well it was both Houdini's and Edward Weston's birthday on March 24. Grab your handcuffs and head down to the darkroom and see what develops.

I'll eat a bell pepper and think of EW.

But I'll eat a banana and dream of Charis...

Boy this could go off track really fast!

But what a muse she was. RIP Charis.

Stop buy Kim Weston on FB and wish his grand dad a happy birthday.

I recently read Edwards and Charis' account of photographing through out California on the Guggenheim grant. I dream of being part of such a creative pairing!

Someone to drive while I look for images, someone who could put up with and complement my three boys, someone who is willing to live the life of simple economy, and be as full of life.

According to Charis, Edward would often sleep while she drove, she would wake Edward up when she spotted something she thought he would be interested in. Not to hard to do I guess. Even my photo buddies know what I like to shoot and will point something out to me if I miss it.

I hate to split hairs but It's the 125th anniversary of his birth, you can't have birthdays when you died fifty three years ago.

He's Edward Weston. Sure he can. Lowly photogs like me have anniversaries.

Yes, one can celebrate a dead's person's birthday. EW's day of birth (birthday) was 125 years ago.

Tie me Dagor down sport

Boy this could go off track really fast!

Eric you had us worried when you mentioned handcuffs, especially as you've got previous :whistling::tongue::wink::blink:

Maybe I should start using cold salt water in the darkroom. Or is that a photo myth?

This year marks the 100th anniversary birthdate of Brett Weston too.

Edward died the year I was born, although at opposite ends. Happy birthday, Edward!

Are you referring to EW using saltwater? Never heard that, but yes, salt water actually makes for a good wash, as long as you follow it up with a fresh water rinse.

I suppose in times of bad drought it is conceivable that EW could send off a couple of his boys for buckets of saltwater -- not exactly a short or easy walk. But that is a story I have never heard.

I read this thread yesterday and I was correct.

Now the thread is incorrect. It is not Edward Weston's birthday today!

Thread title updated.

Thread title updated.
But now the original post is inaccurate! Are you sure you want to mess with the matrix of time, Jason?

Don't forget to change it again tomorrow!

Great, this way the thread title makes sense!

Because of Jason's action, I now sleep better at night.
