A few years back--late 1960d iirc, I saw an original print of Pepper Nr. 30 in an art museum in Cincinnati. I could not move away from it. I sat for what seemed like hours, entranced by the purity of the composition, the tonality, and the apparent depth of image on a flat surface. I could not believe a photograph could be so moving to me.
FWIW, photographing near Carmel some years back, my friend posed me sitting on some rocks on "Weston Beach" with my Ranger 9 exposure meter in my lap. He titled it "John and Weston, Monterey, Ca."
