Just a heads up on a great show of the work of Eddy Posthumus De Boer currently running at the photo museum in The Hague in the Netherlands.

If you are in the neighbourhood I can fully recommend you visiting it if you are into street, portraiture and life during the 60's-70's-80's. I visited the exhibition today and a native Dutchman myself I was very impressed by the nature and quality of the work.

Eddy Posthuma de Boer

“I’m searching for the world as it really is.”

Fotomuseum Den Haag presents a major exhibition of work by living legend, Eddy Posthuma de Boer (1931). A contemporary of Ed van der Elsken and Johan van der Keuken, he is one of the most important living representatives of humanist photography in the Netherlands. His great love of travelling has enabled him to record human life in more than eighty countries.

Thanks for pointing out this most embarassing goof-up Frank.

I wish I could edit my original post.

I was wondering if he was given the name posthumously.

You are right. Originally that name was a roman term designating a child being born after the death of its father.

In this case however it is likely the latinisation (which had been popular some time) of the frisian name Postma.

I cannot blame the OP for gettting it wrong. Both versions exist in the Netherlands. I was not knowing of that photographer. When googling him I did not even realize the difference...

Thanks for this tip Matt,

I just did.

Dear moderators, In my opening post I misspelled the name of the photographer in both the title and body. Could I please request a correction? I would like to replace every occurance of the name "Posthumus" with "Posthuma". Thank you in advance, Bill
