I stopped by the NPG on my way home tonight. The Steichen pictures, while beautifully printed, were the same ol' Steichens we've all seen a million times. Not particularly exciting.

However, Zaida Ben Yusuf made some of the most beautiful photographs I've ever seen. Sprinkled about the many muddy, washed out platinum prints she did were some transcendent platinum prints. Platinum prints which glow, and that's not easy. How can I not have heard of this masterful photographer?

Some of them are really something. There's some drek in there, but when she was good, OH MY GOD was she good.
