My Eastman 2D 5x7 came with a little spring steel pusher or support that is fastened to the rear of the front standard. It projects up into the camera, and gently pushes up against the inside of the top of the bellows. It is several inches wide, so it has a large area of contact with the bellows. It meets the bellows about three folds in back of the front standard. It has never been a problem, but it does create an annoying flat spot where it prevents the bellows from folding naturally.

Does anyone else with a 2D have this little fellow "supporting" the bellows? If not, I would be inclined to remove it, but I am hesitant to tear down fences when I do not know why they were put up in the first place.

Hi Jon,

Yes, there's a similar item on my 2D 5x7.
Perhaps it was meant to guide the bellows when they're compressed.
Doesn't seem to create a flat spot on this unit, fwiw.

I have the same thing on my 8x10 2D, this has been something they did on there cameras since day one for support, it ihas never created a flat spot on mine.

Same as above. I think it is there to help prevent bellows sag.

Mine has it too. I think it was the reason I got the belows and front standard so durn cheap (I rebuilt my 2d from parts) On the sample that I took the bellows from the spring had been bent up too much and prevented the bellows from closing right. I bent it down a tad and no flat spot and folds perfectly. If it causes a flat spot just bend it down a hair.
