I just picked up an olympus stylus epic w/35mm f2.8 lens.
It seems to power up but I het an "E" flashing on the lcd and nothing happens when I press the shutter release.
It has no film in it.. Do I need to load film before it will take a pic?

Never mind, I replaced the battery and now it works fine.
What a great little camera!

I love that camera for having a good camera for a photo opportunity. I can't really carry a SLR while cycling. The lens is great, and I love the exposure systems, like the spotmeter, night mode, and other stuff. For low light I just put it on something with flash off and the self timer on. It uses IR to focus [i think] so you can shoot it total darkness with flash. E=Empty. It's quite durable for its size!

I would rather have a Olympus XA, but thats only for more control, and less sound.

What are the differences between the Olympus XA and the XA2?
XA2 - f3.5 4 element lens, program mode to 2 secs, 3 zone focus settings.
XA - f2.8 6 element lens, Aperture Priority exposure to 10 secs, R/F focus from 0.9m to infinity.

XA range are getting long in the tooth, plastic parts, particularly wind-on mechanism, are prone to failure.

Epic/mju-II is so cheap now they're almost disposable.
