I have an HP 8750 printer which I'm quite happy with. It uses dye-based inks, not pigment. I've selected my papers based on this, sticking to HP Premium Plus and Ilford Classic Pearl.

I'm thinking about trying some "better" papers, just to see what's out there. Are dye inks compatible with cotton or rag papers?

For the 86 viewers who presumably are interested in the answer to this, I bought some Hahnemuhle rag paper, and a set of Canson test papers. The rag papers seem to take the ink fine, and are almost instantly dry, unlike the Epson and HP papers I have. It looks fine to me, although I guess permanence might be an issue, or is that a myth?
