I have a box of 120 film here that is marked "DX". What is that supposed to mean? The wikipedia article about DX coding only talks about 35mm film.

fujifilm 120 has a barcode on the leader
the only camera I ever had that used it is my gx680iii
it sets iso and film length (120 or 220)

not sure if any other cameras used this system
Fuji film also has a hole in the middle of the leader that catches on the take up spool for easier loading on the gx680

hope that helps

I sure can't find what it means. Freestyle doesn't say anything. I wonder if it means something totally different than the coding on 35mm cassettes. Sort of like, what does AMA mean? Lots of things.

Having recently been car shopping, it sounds like the one without the heated leather seats.

rbrigham's
explanation sounds reasonable, but it seems odd the idea is so well hidden.

Could it mean Deluxe? Although that would seem redundant with Ultra...

Is there a name for the barcode standard that some cameras use on the backing paper?

The bar code is on the film so that you can use your smart phone to scan the film so the smart phone will keep track of the film you used and automatically order more film from FreeStyle.

Well that beats the Rollei 6008i

Interesting that Foma does not have dx code on its 120 film (at least not advertised. I have not used any) but Arista does.

Or is it Fuji now ?
