I'm curious if anybody here has seen this, and if so if they can cite the source.

The following appeared on "another network" in a current thread:

Dwaynes has said in ads that is {sic} intends to process Kodachrome for at least 3 more years.

This is the first I've ever heard of any "warning" or "deadline" given in units of time as to when Kodachrome and/or processing would be discontinued.

It surprises me, because not too long ago I phoned Dwaynes and asked. The lady I spoke to stated flat out that there were no plans in the works to discontinue Kodachrome processing. She sounded sincere, not just like somebody blindly parroting the company line.

I just checked Dwayne's web site and found no reference to three years anywhere.

Anybody (else) seen any references to this three-year warning?

PE, any comments?

Probably just more bandwidth hogging attention whore internet spam!

dmr,

I too have "heard" this - including here I believe. But take it as a neutral statement. And I don't think it is contrary to what you were told regarding "no present plans to discontinue processing".

My guess is that this is "speculative thinking" in the vein that, if and when Kodak finally discontinues making Kodachrome, then Dwayne's will likely cease processing it about three years later (i.e. after "clearing" the last fresh dated stuff from the marketplace).

But PE will likely know more about this.

It might have been me that posted that on Dwayne's ebay ads they stated that they will be processing Kodachrome for at least 3 years. I am just nervous with all of this restructuring and the nixing of Kodachrome 200 with no public announcement.

While I have reasonable contacts over there, I am just a bit leery of it all. The best we can do is hope Kodak will see the film through to 2010 when it will turn 75.

I think that is probably what is referred to, the 75th anniversary. Kodak has probably said it will be made at least until then. IDK.
