I've been looking for instructions/manual for this enlarger. Does anyone know of a source (preferably UK)?

The questions I have are what is the removable panel for in the front of the head above the condenser?

Is the drawer in the side of the head, below the bulb and above the condenser, for contrast filters?

What is the red scale with the sliding door below the neg carrier in the front of the head for?

How does the auto-focus work? (I know it is a system for holding focus while raising or lowering the head, but how does it work?)

According to this (page 6/7) your enlarger was built somewhere between 1947 and 1967. Durst sells manuals online (pdf), but yours is not included in the list. Good luck.

The manual is in 5 languages( yes, there is an english part ) if you want a copy of it let me know.
Q N°1= if you use the enlarger as a camera for copying documents you'll have to fit in a mirror, a copying cassette with ground glass and take out the plate to focus
Good luck, its a very nice enlarger and easy to use

Thank you both for your replies.

Albert, thank you very much for your offer, I would very much be interested in a copy of the manual! Maybe just a scan of the relevant pages would be useful.

Hi Albert, I'm currently starting restore an old Durst U70 enlarger. I would really appreciate a copy of the manual as well.
Is there any chance I can get one? Of course, if this involves making photocopies, I woul like to pay for the job.

Thanks

Just picked up a Durst U70. I was wondering if anyone still has the instruction manual for this beautiful machine. Having trouble figuring out the autofocus system. Thank you very much in advance.

Durst U70 manuak

Hi PhiloK and ic-racer,

I have the manual already scanned in Hi-Res and converted to PDF. If someone of you is interested, please just drop me a PM with your e-mail. Also pls let me know if you can receive a 4 or 5 MB file and if you just want the english section or the whole multi-language booklet.

Bye

Hi Granafine, I would also like a copy of the manual in english if poosible.
I bought this enlarger for printing some old medium format negatives with a 105mm lens, does anyone know if its possible to use for 35mm as well, and if so which lenses and other bits?

I use the Durst U70 enlarger regularly and love it. I have the original user manual filed away and would be willing to scan it for someone if they still need it.
To answer your questions, McNigel, you can use it for 35mm. The 105mm will work, you just can't make very big prints. For larger prints, I use a 50mm lens. You need a recessed lens board for that lens. It's a bit awkward to use since the lens is tucked inside the "tube", but it works. With the 50mm lens, it's all manual focus though.
