Does anyone know the proper way to disassemble a Durst S45? I'm going to be getting on for free (Yay!) and need to move it. And I'm fairly sure it won't fit into my house assembled.

It's pretty straightforward. Just start by removing the head and then the main body and base seperate into 4 parts. Just make sure you pack the condensors very carefully. I have an S45-EM and like it a lot. Good luck!Emile/www.deleon-ulf.com.

I also was lucky enough to get my S45 for free. The table removes easily. I did not remove the head. The column can easily be disassembled into two pieces.

The head is removed from the rear bracket by loosening the four retainers. The column separates into two pieces as has been mentioned. The base is removed from the lower column by loosening the clamping mechanism. The table is removed by loosening the center retaining bolt.

Okay, sorry it took so long to get back, but this was the soonest I could go see it.

On removing the head, do I leave the part that goes around the column on the column, or does it come off. And the counter balence system, does that stay on?

The part that the head is attached to remains on the column. Raise the head to the highest level before removing the head since this is under spring tension. Beyond that the counter balance spring housing stays with the upper column.
