My first thought was a "photo organ". Well...

Second thought was "kind of overflows".

"NEAR" seems to be some extention collumn for the M 301. It is just a kind of long wedge, totally different from your rods/tubes.

guess

My guess is that they are spindles for mounting various numbers of film rolls for developing.

That true NEAR thing is to be put between the base "rack" of the M301 and its tube collumn, to form an extention.

That makes sense, so the black plastic tubes don't go with the box. Next question then what are the tubs for? They came with a bunch of darkroom stuff I got off of CraigsList.

Perhaps they are for a film developing tank to hold the reels, but then which tank.

Roger

I think the black tubes are solar powered LEDs designed to light your garden path at night.

Which is another way of saying: "I have no idea".

As Matt indicated: they could be anything. Not necessarily darkroom related.

Though, the sheer number and the small steps do not hint at some decoration stuff etc., but rather at something for technical use.

terrorist

I think there is a dastardly terrorist organization going around and putting boxes of photo gear along with totally non-photo stuff in thrift shops and garage sales to drive us folks nutso. It is working.

Durst naming scheme kills me everytime. Especially for older stuff ugh.

Actually Near makes perfect sense, if the box did indeed hold a column extension. That would allow for larger prints thus making the subject appear "Near"

Durst, like many European countries, used part 'letters' instead of part 'numbers'. Note how Leitz items are designated. That said, I don't know what they are either.

Yes, but a designation made out of ciphers does not make us wiser either. But as people of words and not figures, those lettercodes are more puzzling.

With a bit of imagination, he can still make a pan flute out of it.

I have no idea what they are, though. Good luck finding out. I have a veritable multitude of similarly obscure artefacts lying around in boxes, waiting to confound the next poor sod who buys or inherits them from me one day.
