Durst M670 VC & Durst TRA 305 N transformer question

Hey all!

I just acquired a Durst M670 VC enlarger head for my Durst M670, and I assumed that I could just plug the VC head into the same transformer for the Color head (TRA 305 N), but I literally cannot pull the color head plug out of the transformer. I am wondering if this is supposed to be like that or if my color head's plug is just firmly connected. I pulled relatively hard on the plug, as hard as I was comfortable doing, without knowing if I was supposed to or not. I assume it is supposed to detach, but I just want to ask if anyone has had this situation or knows that it definitely should detach. Or if anyone has a suggestion on what to do in this situation, I would appreciate it! (I have attached photos below for reference).

If Durst wanted a fixed cable they would not have used a connector.
But I admit I have not yet experienced such a simple conector to have got stuck.


Maybe a user cemented it in place (for whatever reason). Do you see any traces of glue?

No it doesn’t look like there was any glue used. Just dust. Should I try pulling a little harder? I don’t want to buy a new transformer.

It is probably stuck due to corrosion.

At this suspicion I would check if the plug gets at use more warm than the respective side of the transformer. Which would be a safety alert.

If this seems ok, one still may install connectors within both enlarger cables and by this swap them midway so to say. Of course at installing any connector one should know what one is doing.

I would give it a squirt of WD40 and leave it overnight then try and pull it out, just a light spray and make sure it's not plugged into the mains
