Hello everyone,

I've just bought my first enlarger last week via Facebook Market place. Its a Durst L1200 with a CLS 450 colour head. Everything is working fine Ive just a question as to what a white plastic switch on the left hand side of the colour head as you're looking at it is for? I switch it in both directions and nothing happens. The fan continues to work and a small red led remains glowing on the front of the head.
I was assuming its for a small pea bulb to illuminate the colour wheels. Ive had to be using a small LED flash light covered in red tape to light the wheels for split grading changes whist enlarging black and white prints. I cant find any manuals without buying one online. Would anyone here know what it is before i blindly start removing screws to investigate if there even is a bulb to replace?

I've attached a photo showing the switch.

Kind Regards

Ross

The switch turns on/off illumination of the colour wheels next to the triangular pointers. There may be up to three bulbs since each wheel is separately illuminated. I don’t have a manual either, so can’t help with replacing the bulb/s.
in my case, I leave the wheels at 0 and the filter leaver at, and use under lens Multigrade filters. In practice, I find that quicker and simpler.

It may be like this which is used in the CLS2000 to illuminate the wheels. I was just reviewing this lamp due to a supposed ban on this lamp in the USA to see if I need to order some spares.

I’ve had a closer look at the head. There is a recessed lamp behind each of the two plastic ’bumps’ that are in line with the whit patches. I suspect that you might be able to remove the bumps by squeezing them — but I’d be careful because plastic gets brittle with age.

All the lights in my Durst were out. I only discovered them during disassembly and cleaning.
