I have 4x L1200's up and running in my darkroom; VLS 501, CLS 501, B+W Femokit and Multigraph. All came from first owners, bought new, hence no need to change heads! :smile:

Just to correct this thread: the weight plates of my L1200 are about 155 mm long and 65 mm wide, and the weight is 215 g per plate. The 15x12 cm plate shown above would not even fit to the plate stack.

I was talking about the 138G (see photo), which has only one tension spring. According to the at the time distributor, working on that system demanded knowledge and specific tools.
So, I didn't work on it and simply added some extra wight, but now I returned to a condensor head...

be careful! when the head rises up quickly, the spring is spring enough to knock you out cold
