Ducati Sogno 18x24 Rangefinder Camera, Vitor 3.5/35mm Lens.
The Ducati Sogno ("dream") was a half-frame 35 mm rangefinder camera made by Ducati in the 1950s at its Milan factory. The Sogno has been called a "miniature Leica" referring to its size and build quality; it is considerably smaller than a Leica III.
The Sogno is unusual for having its controls, including the shutter release, operated by the left hand. It produces an 18 mm x 24 mm image on standard 35 mm film loaded in a special cassette.
Known Issues
- There is a slight blue residue (nickel oxide) on some parts, caused by a reaction between the metal and the leather case.
- The shutter speeds are correct at 1/50th and higher, but the shutter curtain sticks at 1/20th or slower. There appears to be a slight crease in the curtain that causes it to stick. The crease was likely caused by sitting in storage for a long period.
- A film cassette is *NOT* included. They are very hard to find. An enterprising photographer might run a Kickstarter to get a new batch of cassettes produced.
