Working away in the darkroom, singing along with the oldies. I think I'm getting the hang of split grade printing!
I've done test strips and test prints and I've mapped out burning and dodging for the different filters.
Ok, I'm printing it! I'm remembering all the steps, I'm changing the filter at the right time. This is going to be good!
I open the easel ........ there's no paper in it!!

Never done that before and I thought I'd done all the darkroom boo-boos.
I guess there's always another mistake you can make:rolleyes:

I remember the time I forgot to close the filter drawer before making my exposure. I was so confused as to why it became very bright in the room...

I'm hoping to develop those negatives tomorrow night, Lillian. 8am start time at work does not make for a happy morning after a late darkroom night (this I know from experience).

Yes, there always seems to come a point in a darkroom session when the mistakes creep in:-
"oops! - forgot to stop the lens down"
"forgot to note when the print went in the dev"
"Oh look - there's a print still lying in the stop that should be in the fix by now"
Switching the white light on when the paper box was open used to be a favourite trick, but for the new one I recently built I included a sliding retraint that doesn't allow the lid to be opened fully vertically, therefore the lid always closes as soon as I let go.

Turning up for work next day even more bleary-eyed than usual with fingers still smelling of fixer is what late darkroom sessions are all about!
