While there are many threads on this subject I don't find the answers I'm looking for.

I'm looking for a tissue to mount 11x14" Fiber Based pictures for holiday gifts. I'd like to find it packaged in 25 sheets or so, I don't need 100 sheets at this time, or a roll.

It seems the most popular tissue used here is Seal /Bienfang Colormount Dry Mounting Tissue. However, B&H's listing indicates it is for RC papers. I'm planning to mount Fiber Based prints and wonder if the Bienfang would be a disaster.

They also list Kodak Type 2 Dry Mounting Tissue - for RC and Fiber Based Mounting. Has this been used by APUGers and what do you think of it?

Thanks,

Not at all. The color mount is simply a lower temp tissue so you don't melt the plastic in the RC paper. Not certain if it is "archival" or not. You also won't be able to remove them from the mount afterward. If you want that option, you will have to use their Buffer Mount. It is very expensive though. As for getting it in smaller packages, I can't help you there.

This is the stuff that's most highly recommended, but it only seems to come in 100 sheet packs. Nonetheless, I'm sure you'll use all of it eventually.

Seal/Bienfang Archivalmount Plus Dry Mount Tissue 11x14/100 sheets Model# 1812114 Add To Cart $85.99

The Seal/Bienfang colormount should work for fiber but I don't like using it. The Colormount sheets are very floppy and won't hold their shape like a sheet of paper. I much prefer the buffermount which is relatively stiff, easier to work with, and designed for fiber prints.

A cheaper alternative that comes in 25 sheet packs and is probably more what you are looking for in regard to Christmas cards is Arista dry mount tissue from Freestyle.

The last few times I purchased dry mount tissue was on EBay. There are lots of folks dumping this stuff along with all their other analog equipment
