+1.

I keep meaning to try reversal processing B&W myself and the only thing that's kept me from trying yours is the same sort of inertia (read, lack of time and energy with life being crazy now and for the past couple of years.)

Best of luck in starting the B&W reversal back up. I really look forward to trying it.

What the heck is that supposed to mean?

They seem to have perfected a really good black and white reversal process. I can't imagine anyone who would be interested in being on APUG in the first place would dismiss that as "wagon wheels and buggy whips."

Well ok, I misinterpreted. But I still have no earthly idea what you meant by that then.

EDIT: So maybe it's praise as "gumption" is generally a positive quality.

In any case, I hope it goes well.

I'm a regular user of DR5 B&W reversal processing. It's a great process and a great service. Good luck with the move! Please get reversal processing back online soon, I've got some 4x5 Ilford Ortho ready to go.

Gumption, A country (and possibly southern) expression for wherewithall, determination, courage. Gumption. Haven't you ever heard that? Don't you speak the king's English? What language are yall speaking around here?

Yes, I've heard of it. Yes, I know what it means. I live in the Atlanta area and grew up in the hills of northeast Tennessee. I even said it was considered positive. So it takes a lot of [wherewithall, determination, courage] - "to keep making and trying to sell wagon wheels and buggy whips?" It's that characterization of their process as outdated to the point of being antiquated and useless (the way I read a comparison to "wagon wheels and buggy whips") that I just can't figure out in the context of APUG.

You English has to be good to follow this.

Me mum was a trained foundary worker from 9 (years) assisting grandfather making wagon wheels and the rest of the wagon. They made and assembled the cart springs...
If you broke a leaf they dismantled reforged it reassembled and put it back on the cart.
She could sew (a singer machine) and knit as well.
They made whiskey as well (moon shine) as it might be termed, real Irish whisky.

Lots of people still do mono slides.

Gordys straps are made like buggy whips, I got two.

Different premises for different processes?

Isn't that strange? One hardly would like to split a lab into two facilities.

Gumption is at least as old as Elizabeth I English.

Do you mean King George or Hancock?

Depends what you mean by lab and (move in) facilities.
A mono lab would normally be three areas neg, dry print, wet print.
If you are using deep tanks you would have a room for each set of tanks.
Replenished developers and floating lids can tolerate weekend closure.
In London there were 24/7 colour labs.
But never a 24/7 mono.
Donno about cine.

Per their Facebook account:

To our dr5 users: We would greatly appreciate input for our restart.. What would you like to see in a dr5-process re-start. Things we have to contemplate - Service turn times / cost of services / expanded services beyond dr5, etc..

As we begin the process of searching for a new home, costs to set back up may be prohibitive. It might be beneficial to run a Kickstarter. Since the dr5 equipment already exists, such a campaign would only aid in our relocation.

All opinions will be beneficial. Thanks for the input.

I would like to see an affordable CD of decent scans available with each roll as Dwaynes will do for E6. Ordering individual scans is cost prohibitive especially when you just want them for web sharing, and lacking a suitable film scanner has kept me from trying dr5.
