HI All

I've bought a new print washer for RA4
A patterson auto print washer

its different from my b/w print washer in that the water enters at the top and exits at the top

dose Blix float or sink ?

it looks like it sinks to me so I wonder if the auto print washer is any good

what do others use

best

As long as the water has sufficient movement, it won't matter. Turbulence will mix the blix into the flowing water and carry it away, as long as it's miscible with water (and it is). Now, if it were immiscible, we'd need to be concerned about pools of it forming in the bottom of the print washer -- but it's not.

In case you are still interested in hard numbers: Kodak's processing manual Z-130 (page 1-10) to be found here states density numbers for RA-4 BLIX between 1.06 and 1.11.

Since, as others have already stated, BLIX is liquid and fully miscible with water, it will probably mix very quickly as you pour in the wash water.

If you have the large Paterson print washer with the basket, that's designed for B&W fibre based paper. RA-4 final wash is easily accomplished in a tray with 4 or 5 quick changes of water in 90 seconds max.

This is for fibre paper
