I like retsina - but it is an acquired taste!

The idea of mixing it with Coca-Cola though I do not like.

In Greece it would not be Coca-Cola but Tam Tam.

Metaxa and coke is palatable. Ouzo isn't

don't pay any taxes and you'll fit in nicely.

And if you're wondering why most of the buildings aren't finisned but people are living in them, its because you don't pay taxes on buildings until they're finsished.
That explains the acropolis then :D

But will they be able to stay in the eurozone? I think not and the eurozone should be made as something to aspire to in economic achievement, rather than just a will to join.

Not all Ouzo, mostly it's sweet and horrible but there are dry ones that are no different to Pernod or Raki. Go to Paris and the French mostly drink Paul Ricard, Pernod is for the tourists.

Ian

Pernod is extremely dangerous. It readily crystalises into insoluable crystals. You're likely to have very serious kidney trouble if you drink too much Pernod. That's why the French don't drink it. Almost as bad as absynth except for different reasons.

Don't ever mention that to an armenian. :D

Cheers,
Flavio

Do not mention Turks to Armenians nor Armenians to Turks. Not a good situation.

Didn't most if not all the bad things said about absinth turn out to be anti-absinth propaganda without any factual data to back it up. It is now finally legal in the US. :munch:

don't visit just as the country runs out of money and shuts down due to bankruptcy.

I disagree. They can use the tourist money since the Russians have stopped traveling there due problems caused by the trade restrictions on Russia. The Greeks will great you with open arms and treat you well as always.

We made it to Greece

My wife and I are in Rhodes Old City. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Just be aware that banks and ATMs may be shut without notice at the moment. It might be wise to have several days reserve of cash (euros) in your bag.

Alternatively stuff your socks with euros.

The news tonight is that some sort of agreement has been made so you may be spared until the next but one payment is due, end of july.

Spoke too soon. It was all hype.
