I find the laser range finders dont work in outdoors, the one I have doesnt for sure. The old hot shoe range finder accessories are easy enough to use, but would require a piggy back shoe coupling. My Leica if has 2 cold shoe couplings which is really handy. Unless your using a portrait lens or a fast lens wide open its easy enough to zone focus.

Which one do you use?I have a LS-1 which is great and very small (the size of a couple of cigarettes) and a Bosch GLM 30, bit bulkier but they're both really functional even under california sun.
Focusing on the subject is super important for me, for example this picture I really wanted to make sure the rock was sharp. Zeiss Ikon 6x6 120.
I recommend these laser pointers, they're really super duper!

Many newer battery dependent products now have their battery compartments secured with a Philipps head screw. I suspect the probable motivation is child safety. Toddlers will sometimes swallow batteries given the opportunity. Yes it's sort of a hassle, but I approve of this trend.
