After a lot of testing, I concluded that the trick to doing low agitation/high dilution development like (semi)stand and Extreme Minimal Development without bromide drag was partially about how the film was suspended and partly about keeping it off the bottom of the tank.
I've been doing this fine with open 1/2 gal Kodak rubber tanks, but wanted to see if there was a way to use conventional tanks for daylight development.
Findings are here:
Tim, do you do inversion for the (few) agitations? If so, I assume that the dimensions of the funnel and tank would prevent the funnel slipping out of the reel while upside down. I'm interested in trying this: my Jobo tanks (small and also the wider 2500 series) have a central core, so instead of a funnel, I'd use a length of plastic pipe over the core to lift the reel.
