You should be able to tinker with whatever cheap foot- or handpumb you have access to and see it the result would be better for you.

But the price is insane. $600-700 for it? That's beyond crazy.
That's par with what I've seen on Ebay.

Insane maybe but there is no alternative if one wants to uniformly develop 10 sheets at the same time, in daylight. I was very reluctant but decided to bit the bullet and purchase a brand new drum in 2018. I dont have a processor, insted I'm using manual rollers with great satisfaction.

I'd also say that the Expert Drum is probably the most chemistry-efficient daylight tank option that exists for 4x5, especially when you haven't shot enough to completely fill it up. That alone is a huge advantage of the system to me, despite the large up-front cost. It means I'm far less hesitant to immediately process the film from a morning outing.
