Is it a lens board for an enlarger, an adapter for a microscope, or perhaps a reflex adapter of some sort?

My first thought was a camera adaper to a photomicroscope housing. But I do not recognize any camera mount in that bayonet. Thus I rather think it is some "internal" mount.

In such cases I tend to say to the clueless dealer : "I'll tell you what it is and you give it me for half your price"....

(But as indicated, I am clueless beyond what I said above, would have to try to find info on the net and am not interested anyway.)

I found some pictures of Leica lens hoods that seem to have the same 42mm bayonet mount:

Your hint at a lens made me realize that the flat piece looks like the base of a bellows.

Maybe one day I should start looking into Leicas... to not again show such ignorance on spring-loaded mounts.

You're right, that's it: it's part of a Leica bellows. Thanks for solving the mystery.
