Does Anyone Know Where I Can Get a -3.00 Lens For The Diopter On My Pentax 67II?

Hi all,

I'm desperately looking for a -3.00 corrective lens for the diopter on my Pentax 67II. (The lens that is currently in the Pentax 67II diopter is a +2.00, so I can't even use the built-in Pentax 67II diopter adjustment to get it focused for my eyes.)

I've read on a Pentax forum that a Nikon F100 diopter glass should fit in nicely, so I bought said Nikon diopter with the -3.00 lens inside it, but it won't at all fit into the diopter ring of my Pentax 67II - it's far too loose. I even removed the -3.00 lens from the Nikon F100 diopter to try to fit said Nikon lens into the Pentax diopter lens holder, but the Nikon -3.00 is a little too large to even fit inside that.

I asked my optometrist if he can do it, and he said that he doesn't do these types of things, whatever that may mean.

I'm so frustrated because I've had this Pentax 67II waiting in my closet ready to use for weeks, but I can't use it unless I get the right diopter.

Does anyone know where I can get a -3.00 corrective diopter lens (or even a -2.00 diopter lens) for my Pentax 67II? Can anyone else please help me with this?

Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Can't you fix it at center by means of an apt O-ring?
 
In this case I found a Contax diopter that was free lens, and I glued it the existing flat glass screw in 'lens' on the viewfinder of this Rolleiflex 35mm SLR.

Does anyone know what I can replace my Pentax 67II diopter lens with? I already tried a Nikon F100 -3.00 diopter lens, but it won't fit at all. :/
 
There are actually a lot of loose diopter lenses on ebay. For example this was the first one to come up:

I don't have a Pentax 67 so can't address this directly. However, there are two different sizes of round Nikon diopters, with either 19mm or 22mm thread. Are you sure you got the later, larger size? The "far too loose" result makes me wonder if you have the small one. as you have the +2.00 pattern, take a glass from some your old glasses and bring both to your local optician. he should be able to cut it to size from the center of your old glass. he should also be able to cut it from a standard -3.00 glass. my optician in cologne, germany was able to do it for me...
 
I verified this between my Pentax 67II and Nikon F3--the eyepieces are not the same threads. My P67II AE prism eyepiece will not thread into the F3, which is a 22mm Nikon thread. The Pentax will engage only part of one thread on the F3.

The standard Pentax AE Prism eyepiece is clear glass--no optical diopter value. In you can find a replacement clear glass eyepiece, I suspect that would work fine for you if your standard lens is -3 diopters, as most cameras seem to have their eye focus distance set at 1 meter, and with the built-in -2.5 diopter setting you'd probably be fine. The usual first step in bi-focals as our eyes age is about +1 diopter from our distance vision. You can verify this by trying the Pentax with the eyepiece removed, and setting the diopter value to -2.5,

If you can't get a clear glass replacement, break out the glass from your +2 diopter eyepiece and just be careful not to get junk into the opening when using it.

You need an optician, not an optometrist. If your Dr. office has an in-house optician, speak to them about it instead.
