Does anyone ever look at images posted in the hybrid group?

As one of the people who joined in the recently closed Hybrid photography rant, it occurred to me perhaps a good way to encourage folks with an interest in such things would be to post some images to the hybrid group. I've just posted three images which some may find interesting, each of which has been captured on film, processed by me and printed by me using an alt process. Yes, I did produce an enlarged negative on my computer from which I contact printed. Two images were made with a Speed Graphic with a magic lantern lens attached, the other was done with a Sprocket Rocket. There is a venue on APUG for these types of images to be shown and discussed and I am interested in knowing if any of my fellow complainers/gadflies avail themselves of it. If so, there are three new images. Anyone who has an interest can see them by joining the hybrid group, if not already a member. There is no cost to join, other than the possible harrassment from your friends for hanging out with folks in the hybrid group. If that bothers you, don't do it. If you are man enough to risk a little harrrassment, come take a look. Bill Barber

For some time, I've thought about going back and looking through my old work, finding things I didn't have the energy to print at the time, and make sort of a retrospective portfolio of it. This particular group of pix, which I've only started, come from a period where I was working as a photographer professionally, and didn't have the energy to print my personal work. I'm starting in the middle: I lifted out a handful of glassines, and started plowing through them, looking for interesting things, scanning them with my Nikon D300, and putting them up on my Flickr page.

This is, you understand, just a start.

I haven't, and do not intend to, look at images on the site. I have spent over 70 years learning my craft and have yet to see an image produced in any manner with digital equipment which can match really good analog work.

I'd also recommend taking a look at the DPUG.org galleries. You can start here--

You'll find everything from straight digital, to scans from film, to handcoated processes (platinum, palladium, kallitype, casien prints, multilayer gums, cyanotype, and combinations thereof) from digital negs that may have come from film or digital originals. Not sure if we may also have some wacky things like platinum over inkjet over there, but I wouldn't be surprised. I have seen such combinations. I don't know if anyone on DPUG is imitating Dan Burkholder's orotypes via digital negs from iPhone originals yet.

+1 for the DPUG Galleries. I spent ages there a couple of weeks ago ogling Jim Larimer's work. Gorgeous stuff!

And, Bill, thanks for the heads up regarding APUG's hybrid discussion group - I somehow overlooked that. I've just signed up...now I'm waiting to see if they'll have me.
