Do you only use a single lens with your interchangeable lens cameras

Do any of you find yourself only using or owning a single lens for your interchangeable lens cameras?

For my Bronica RF645, I only have the 65mm lens. Steep prices prohibit me from getting the 45mm or 100mm. So, that one, I certainly use as a single lens camera.

For my Canon EOS, I have stepped away from the zooms and moved to primes. I don't use strictly one lens, but to be honest, the 50/1.4 is now on it 95% of the time. I usually carry the 24, 50 and 100mm macro, but really, it's the 50mm I use most.

A Nikkor 28mm is permanantly attached to my F3 for walking the streets. Plenty of dof for prefocussed grab shots and I can still do portraits with it. Easy.

Lots of 50mm in my life. Does a little bit of everything. I shall be shooting more documentary next year and so might spend a long bout with something shorter (interiors). But if I can I will use the 50.

Thanks for the replies folks. I have (had?) this perception that I need a bagfull of lenses to go with my SLRs, but when I finally got to that point with my Nikon, I found myself still using one lens almost exclusively.

Yes, mainly the 50/1.4 on my Nikon F4, although I also take a wide (28 or 35, but mostly 35) and a short tele (again 85 or 105, mostly 105). Now that I have downgraded myself to an unmetered F2, I think I will use the same lenses.

Mostly I use just one of my zooms when I'm out with one of my Nikon SLR's so I guess strictly that means just "one" lens. But it seems a bit like cheating to say so since my 24-85 and 35-70 cover fairly wide ranges of f/length territory! Sometimes though, when I carry the 35-70 I'll also bring along the 28 and will interchange when I need a bit wider angle.

With my Nikon and Cosina R2S RF gear I usually carry three lenese: a wide (24 or 35), normal and either the 85 or 105 and switch regularly depending on subject, composition etc.

I personally prefer to have several bodies onto which is a rarely removed lens, BUT
as is said in the auto mechanics world, it is FAR, FAR better to have a tool and not need it, that it is to NOT HAVE a tool and need it even once.

That comes from experience in both areas.

PS--The photographers who use only one lens and camera, the tool they truly need is a well functioning brain, and with that they are well equipped.

On my F3 I will invariably take either one lens or three, rarely more.

If I'm travelling anywhere I pack a 24, 55 and 105 trio.

On a day trip to a city type location, it is usually a 24 for buildings and tight spaces.

Having lenses ranging from 18mm through to 600mm I find that certain lenses are really good at one or two things and that is what they are used for.

The sweetest lenses I have, are the 105 2.5 and the 85 1.4. The 85 is quite good for portrait work hand held with the 105 coming in second.

My favorite camera for general stuff is a Rollei TLR, so I am forced to use a normal lens, as that is what it has, and I love the thing. On my Pentax 35mm I have a 50mm and a 28mm, as well as a longer zoom. I almost never use the zoom, and mostly stick to the 50, on the other hand this is the only camera I have with a wide lens, so if I need/want one it will be grabbed. I still need to get an adapter but I also have a 1900mm FL telescope that I will be able to attach as a lens as well, useful for lunar shots, and maybe birds.

With my Nikon I use the 28mm to 300mm Tamron zoom lens almost exclusively. On rare occasion I will switch to the 20mm to 35mm Nikon zoom lens. I usually carry both with me as well as the Hasselblad and its four lenses because I need the exercise.
