Hullo - I'm sick of lugging my Busch Pressman around, and have been pondering the ins and outs of wooden field cameras - really keen on ordering a Wista DX or similar, but Mainline doesn't import them anymore, and Camera Exchange are being vague... Looks like I might have to order one online from Freestyle or somesuch (yes, I'll get a NEW one, so it can age with me....), but I'd love to look at one first to, you know, see what they're like?!

Can anyone help? Should I wait 'till this mooted Melbourne APUG get together?!

Marc, I have a older Wista field camera you could fondle at the upcoming meet. Or if you like we could try to get together sooner if your in a hurry. Not sure if you could use it as a reference point for a new one though, as its not in mint condition.

Oh that sounds fab!! It's not so much for the newness, it's more to get a sense of operation and ergonomics, for what it's worth in a 100+ year old basic camera design, before I send off my hard-earned pennies!! As for being hurried, well I did have half a mind to get one before I go stomping around Sweden and Switzerland in July (the "Sw" countries), so I guess it depends when the meet actually is... Kevin? Mick?

Marc, the mooted LF get together / show and tell, is possibly going to happen in June.

Maybe the weekend after the Queen's Birthday, or the weekend after that.

This is tentative, but sort of where we are aiming for.

As soon as venue is arranged it will be posted.

It is going to happen.

That sounds interesting. We don't actually go skiing (or even partying!) on the QB weekend nowadays. I'll scrawl my calendar as a note to watch APUG regarding this knees-up. Good one Mick.
