Nicely done. I share your outlook on the tank volume. When I made a Jobo workalike (no lift, more like a CPE2 with and industrial motor) I made the mistake of using a large volume of water in a separate tank. It held the temperature very nicely but it was a pain to empty all the time. That has since been improved but there is more to do.

That really is good, so good I will no longer worry what to do when my Jobo CPE2 eventually dies.

Your method of flattening the wheels is also pretty lateral, I have done a similar thing to make wheels for toys. I used a wood turning lathe with a wood turning chisel, to flatten the wheels.
