DIY darkroom lights

A friend of mine is trying to remember a formula for a solution to dip incandescent bulbs into to make your own darkroom safelight. The only things he can remember is that it was a kodak formula and it used vermillion red as on of the ingredients.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

red LEDs work great....and you can check exactly what wavelength of light they emit

Hello DarkroomExperimente: this is exactly what I was looking for. My friend will be disappointed though because these formulas will only work with older less sensitive materials but I will pass them along.

don't see the point.You can get these lights very cheaply these days. Why go through the trouble?
