Since I was bored, and I'm cheap, I decided to make my own contact print frame. I started with .25"x1.5"x2' strips of poplar which I got at Home Depot. I don't have a table saw, so I alternated 5 strips to make grooves for the glass, and the springs. The grooves for the glass are 3/8" deep. This is the result of the glue up.

After glue up, I roughly trimmed down the back of each piece, which is the part with the two boards sticking out. This weekend I'll use a hand plane to bring everything down to level.

I will probably line the groove for the glass with black felt just to protect the glass and prevent it from shaking in the frame.

Materials cost up to this point is $29.

So far so good, adapt and overcome. I was pondering making one myself.
