My local thrift stores always have a ton of point and shoots for $3 or less. You won't find a Contax T3 or anything super fancy there. But at $3 a piece, I kind of consider them disposable cameras.

Thank you for hinting at that article!

But, the term Disposable Camera is not appropriate. As these cameras are not at all thrown away by the consumer, nor by industrial labs, whi send themfor recycling.

The industry term for these cameras is Single Use Camera.

I agree with Jim, point and shoots can be found really cheap, at 9 to 11 for a single use camera you can get a nice Pentax, Canon, Minolta or Nikon with a 35mm to 70mm lens and several rolls of Kodakcolor 400.

When I worked at Kodak, I found that the Kodak disposable camera optics were the best.

The batteries can cost more than the camera though.

I go to a local lab and they give me cracked open cameras for .25 a piece. I get a bag and load em up with expired b&w and give them out. Fun times for all.
