This may be a strange question but is there any harm hanging a mounted and framed fibre print over a radiator? Would the rising heat cause any harm to the print?

I have prints of my own hanging for a few years in similar circumstances without any visual problems that I can see. Its just that I now want to hang two Les McLean prints and I don't want to take any chances with these beauties

The rising heat wouldn't worry me as much as the 100 km/hr winds driving at highway speeds, or of the awful bug guts encrusted goo you'd have to clean off of them after every trip. Could be worth your while though, you never know how many print orders you might get in parking lots :D

I suspect you're asking because it seems common sense to you that putting a print somewhere its going to be heated up and cooled down once or twice a day is not going to be good for it. All that expansion and contraction and constant changing of moisture levels in the print. The poor print will think its being subjected to an archival testing regime.

I would be more concerned about leaks from a radiator in a steam system than I would about dry heat.

When in doubt, don't. I don't know how hot your radiators run, but I would not want to put prints that you care a lot about someplace where they are going to be exposed to drying out for half the year, then rehumidification in the summertimes. The best place is somewhere that temperature and humidity are relatively constant.

Place the prints over the radiators absolutely no problem. Just don't have the radiators on. If E complains just tell her that the cold is simply to add to the atmosphere of windswept Dartmore to suit the prints.
