I wonder how they kept that film from being exposed when not in use in the pyramids. A typical dark slide wouldn’t stand a chance against cosmic rays.

As the exposure time was several weeks, handling in/around the pyramid would not be an issue. But unless fresh coated, the film would have been covered by thick sheets of lead inbetween.

Let's assume a electronic sensor has the same sensitivity as nuclear film. They exposed 8m² over several weeks. That would be less practical with electronic sensors.

Agree, I had been researched that technology long time ago. I think Fuji makes the films. Do muon comes from sun or space ?

A nuclear emulsion film is a special photographic film that can detect muon trajectories in three-dimensional images with sub-micrometric accuracy7–9. In these experiments, we used unit films of 30×25 cm2 and covered a maximum 8 m2 at a time. Each film has a 70 microns thick emulsion coating on both sides of a 175 microns thick transparent plastic base.
