I got 30 boxes at the old price the day the announcement was made. I'm going to happily use it, just as I've been using it, until it's gone. I already thought of it as sort of expensive, but from another perspective: a box or two per month wasn't all that much, it's fun, and $10 or $20 a month isn't all that much for a compared to other hobbies. But $3 per shot is too much for me... I like to goof off with it, take chances, play, try things that probably won't work. At $3 a pop, that "fun, carefree" part will be stifled. ( I only use it for pinhole )

Well look at what we have here:

Impossible Project Founder and New55 are Saving Peel-Apart Film

http://petapixel.com/2016/09/13/impossible-project-founder-new55-saving-peel-apart-film/

"Their proof-of-concept is New55 PN: a professional quality 4×5-inch black and white, positive-negative instant film..."

"With this proof-of-concept in hand—and another experiment in the works for a prototype run of 4×5-inch color peel apart instant film—Crowley and Kaps are ready to embark on their own “mission impossible.” With some financial help from investor David Bohnett, they’re taking on the challenge of creating a replacement version of FP-100c."

Wait a minute, isn't this film the film New55 has been working on for a long time and not actually new news?

I believe, if I remember right, from Crowley's blog, the color 4x5 peel apart is a stepping stone to making pack film, not the one shot, but 10 in a pack. I hope I remembered that right. LOL

I assume they will want to re-use the peel-apart technology they developed for New55 PN. But that is single sheet, so they will have to work out the packaging of that into a pack of 10. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they can't fit 10 of their sheets into a pack and will have to go with some smaller number of sheets per pack (just like what Impossible was forced to do).

Having tried out the New55 experimental color peel-apart film, it's also clear to me that they have some ways to go to get anywhere near FP-100c. My guess is they won't get to that level of quality and start out with something more "impressionistic" just like the Impossible project...

Good news. I'll support it.

Yeah I supposed once 4x5 is perfected it wouldn't take much to make the packfilm size. As you said the pack might be an issue.

They are nowhere close to color, or packfilm. Their color experiment was just using up and repackaging the expired / almost useless extra 20x24 materials from the supply of vintage 2009 20x24 material. If you like Fp100c (and I do) , continue to buy and use what's left Id' say. It's good for at least a few years past expiration date, in my experience. Fortunately B&H has lowered their highway robbery somewhat and still has fp100c @ $23.99/pack I believe. may have to buy a bit more...

We are working on an all new color material that already looks fairly good. Because the spread thickness is even more critical we have to redesign the assembly and will incorporate that into the black and white PN product assuming we get funding. Both could be the source of the roll goods for a pack film at some point in the future, but automation is needed to control quality, and cost.

We believe this effort, if funded, will lead to a color peelapart product that is equal to or superior in some ways to the previous fujifilm product. If you read the "goals" section you will see that there can be an effort to make a true instant color negative, not only for instant formats, but for 120, etc. Dead Link Removed

After I saw Florian Kaps talk about him, New55 and David Bohnett alied to bring back pack film I interviewed Florian on Skype. Here is the video and it might help solve some doubts.

Bob, could this lead to roll film like Polaroid 40 and 30?

Yeah, I'd like to have some type 42 again. Really made my 900 shine, gave a less "noisy" pic than 47 or 107, a sharper pic than 107C, 108, FP3000B or FP100C.

And I've never been able to try out my 80B not my J33 (okay, I did shoot one 6x9 transparency with my 80B, but I've misplaced it).

The old story told by him that he is the one who started The Impossible Project.

Bosman was the least to start the project. He even was opposed to it. And moreover he did not know how to proceed technically.
