Dimension brand lenses

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has heard of Dimension brand lenses? I recently traded for a 35/2.8 and 100/2.8 in Nikon F mount. These manual focus lenses are very well built, nice solid feel and smooth focusing. I haven't tested them yet, but will be doing so soon. I can't find any info on them.

Edit: I just saw (there was a url link here which no longer exists) basically asking the same question. Interesting. Anyhow, they seem very well built, and if thats any indication of the image quality, they should perform fine.

Yes, the brand name of "Dimension" was new to me also. If you can run a roll of film past them while they are on a Nikon F body, it would be very interesting to hear how they work. I can say that it will be a surprise if we hear that you are not happy with the result you get. If the lens is not damaged in some way, it should be a fine performer for you. By the 1960's and the start of the use of computers in lens optical design, the technology for designing and manufacturing prime single focal length lenses was pretty well developed and mature. Even the Asanuma and Cosina guys who often are the subject of criticism have made some very good lenses when you look at the results of the print on paper.

I have some new information regarding these lenses. A 200/f3.5 lens sort of fell into my hands (in Minolta MD mount) and it turns out, its the same lens as the Vivitar 200/3.5 which was actually made by Komine, and has a least a few good reviews around the net. It might be an indication to the origin or the other Dimension lenses I have. Unfortunately, I still haven't tested them, but it's on the agenda.

If it was made by Komine, it's probably very well made. I don't know the origins of it's design, but it's probably quite a decent performer. Give me a better snap of it and its serial #,and I'll tell you more.

Must've been a store brand, kinda like Quantaray, which seems to sell rebadged Sigma lenses. Probably a Canadian store brand...

P.S. Kiron Kid, head north for this weekend. The Blue Angels are performing for Seafair. Will try to hit one of the parks either in Seattle or on Mercer Island on Sunday to get some shots of the jets flying overhead...
