As a legitimate Old fart I have decided to switch to a cheaper Phone carrier. I’m not a big phone user per se’ and all I really need is Maps, Text and I want a better camera on a new Phone. Even then I rarely use the camera except to check stores price’s when not marked. Hopefully that will change.
Anyone here have any suggestions for a cheaper carrier and maybe a better phone?

T-Mobile has a fixed price plan that's only a few dollars per month. It's cheaper than the plans by carriers catering to seniors, and the service is better.

I use Metro PCS which owned by T-mobile, prices are pretty good, downside is that when there is a lot of traffic Metro PCS uses are bumped.

i don't know how prices compare... as a legitimate old fart i use consumer cellular, $25 @month... i don't know what my limits are but i use voice, data (maps - a lot), and browse, (when I'm out and in need of nearby and restaurant info type stuff).

it seems pretty cheap to me - my significant other pays a good bit over $100 for 2 lines, but then she has an apple phone. Me, I have as low a priced android I can get that has the features I need (64g mem) - runs software, text, etc. and cost less than $100, 3 years ago.

My carrier Verizon Wireless gives me 15% off on the data portion because I'm a veteran. I don't think I can get anything more off even though I'm an old fart too.

I too am an old fart. I use prepaid cricket. Talk, text,& data no limits $35 a month. Just an old Samsung phone. I am a photographer. When I want to make a photo I use a camera, damn it.😎

I use Verizon because my family members and friends are all on Verizon Wireless.

I've been using Tracfones for years. $65 and up on eBay gets a phone w/ 1 year of service and a lot of talk/text/internet stuff. I use these because I do NOT want to be a slave to my phone. I already have the internet for that

A cell phone is just for the occasional snaps, emergency use, etc. It's always w/ me when I ride my bike, which is mostly every day, and it is always turned off. Biking is for exercise, commuting, running errands and fun, not for being pestered by a phone. I generally use Skype at home, so my yearly phone use runs maybe $90.
