Hello everyone,

I have a roll of Arista Premium 400 and LegacyPro 100 (Tri-X and Acros, respectively) that need to be processed. They both need around the same times for development according to the massive dev chart.

My question is, is it OK to develop both films at the same time, in the same tank? Or is there a risk involved that I'm unaware of?

Thanks!

Both films require development of 10-11 minutes. I generally find 10:30 to be a good time for them.

The risk is.... if you have a careless moment and put chemicals in wrong order (like I did at one time) you may ruin two films rather than just one.... Also, if you somehow have expired or contaminated chemicals, you run the risk of ruining two.

I always do one at a time but then again, I never shoot more than 3 films in one shoot, so it's really not a big deal for me to do one at a time.

I do it all the time if the developing times are within a minute or so of each other. I just use a time halfway in between the two. One ends up slightly overdeveloped, and the other ends up slightly underdeveloped. No big deal.

yep,
it's not like it's sheet film where you can control contrast for every shot
