Did Fuji ever make a GW660 version of their Texas Leicas?

Since the announcement of the cessation of production of the GF670, I've been thinking about various fixed-lens rangefinder cameras of the folding and non-folding variety. Fuji had the GW690, GW680, and the GW670, but I have never heard of a GW660. I'm not including the GF670 as that is a folder made by Cosina. They skipped right over the 6x6 to the GA645 series. I assume that Fuji themselves made the GW series, not that it really matters. It seems that they used the same 90mm lens for the GW series. I assume they used the same body and overall mechanisms as well and just changed the frame spacing and mask for each model. Perhaps a 90mm on a 6x6 is too long for most people and the cost to tool an 80mm or shorter lens that might be more suitable to 6x6 was too costly.

Thoughts?

Regards,
Rob

I have never once heard of a Fuji 6 x 6 camera except for their GF670 and GF670W cameras. Those have moveable masks. Previously you could get rangefinders from Fuji in 6 x 17, 6 x 9, 6 x 8, 6 x 7, and 6 x 4.5 sizes.

For some reason they skipped the square format.

No, they didn't. You'd have to go back to the Fujica Six folder, which is much older and a different beast entirely.

It is (or was) the GF670 rangefinder that I was looking at that does that.

Wow...I never heard of this camera so researched it a bit. Fuji's very first camera!!! Discontinued in 1953!
