Well, my 1c is in storage at the moment; my darkroom is set up to try out a Minolta Mod 111 that I just got.

Well, I guess that leave me hanging then. No problem! It's not like I don't have alternatives to the problem. It's just that I really like the Fuji 50mm EX, but I can use it on the LPL or my Omega D3V if I want. I will miss the ease of the Ilford 400HS VC head, but oh well.

Did you use the Leitz extension tube (part #17675 X)?

I
I don't think you read my post chip. My problem is not with lack of extension it's with being able to contract the lens closer to the negative. I can't get the lens close enough to the dang negative. Not just for auto-focus, but for any focus at all.

Have they gotten better with age? Well I keep mine in an oak cask which is then stored under a glass pyramid. Gets sharper every time I pull it out to use.

Hey, no big deal! Don't go through the bother, but I am curious.
I got to it, but to my great surprise and horror I can't find the power cord (from the baseboard to the timer)! Have to remedy THAT somehow.

The Fuji 50mm EX or the Focomat 1c? I don't think age helps either one, but with the age of my eyes I can't tell.
