I've used diafine on and off for decades - but not often. Is it necessary to keep developer replenished. Key word being replenished. Typically at some point the stuff I have mixed is years and years old and I just dump it. Never use more than a pint out of a quart. I still have a quart in my darkroom (in the little tin cans) but do I need to buy another quart for replenishment?

I don't know if they still sell Diafine in quart sizes. A gallon size runs around $95.00 a gallon. You can try B&H they might sell it in quarts, but B&H does not ship a lot of chemistry. The link to Freestyle offering of Acufine and Diafine.

I never "replenished" it. I would mix a gallon of A and B and decant the A into 2 32 oz bottles and 1 64 oz bottle and mark 1 of the 32 oz bottles as make-up. It was used to keep the original 32 and 64 oz bottles full. Same with the B. I didn't use much B. I hope that is clear.

You can replenish, I think the directions sau tp just add new stock to keep A and B topped off. Last time I used Diafine the 90s when we moved from a house where I had a full drakroom to a townhome with a small darkroom in a double bath. My old darkroom I had a water chiller, no room in the townhome and with summer tap water over 90 degrees I used Diafne which is considered panthermic. I would replenish by dumping 1/2 of A and B and adding enough to bring back to a gallon. I don't recall how many rolls or sheets of film I processed before replenishment. After a summer I decided that I did not like Diafine for day to day shooting and made a chiller that uses ice and water.
