Hey everyone!
I wanted to develop some FP4 in D-19 and I was wondering what the development times are.
Both at the box speed and also pushed to ASA 400 if possible.
Thanks for the replies in advance.

I developed a lot of 400 ISO film in D-19 in the 80's and 90's. The film was underexposed and I developed it for about 10 min on a rotary Unicolor tube processor and used D-19 1:1. If this is an important roll, I would get another roll and run a development test. The Massive Development Chart lists D-19 1:1 for FP4 but gives no times just and effective ISO 50.

I know; I‘m actually developing for a friend and they specifically asked for this
If that's what they want, then so be it
Try the massive development chart on digitaltruth website. Don't expect ideal negatives unless a stark result is desired.

This guy tried D-19 and his times for the various films might give you an idea: http://www.alexluyckx.com/blog/2023/03/27/developer-review-blog-no-39-kodak-d-19/

I’ve worked with many different developers throughout these reviews, and I’ll have to say, D-19 baffled me. It is not a bad developer but is designed for specific purposes
.

The above is from the link you posted by Alex Luyckx himself.

D-19 is indeed a special purpose developer. It would be much better to use a normal contrast developer that maintains or helps to enhance the emulsion speed.
like Microphen or T-Max developer.
Some of the photos on that site have empty black shadows.
Perhaps that is the OP's objective.

I've played around with D-19 with a few conventional films like HP5 but not FP4. In determining development times as a starting point I derive a ratio between any conventional film with the known development times of a common developer like D-76/ID11 and D19 and then apply it to the film of interest with it's known development times of D-76/ID11. Another complicating factor is the ratios for stock vs. diluted developer times varies from film to film. I pretty much nailed down HP5 and D-19 at 6min 15sec and D19 1:1 at 9min 15sec. The 1:1 development could be scaled back by 15 or so seconds since it's a tad brighter compared to stock development but it's not significant. Without further bogging down in comparative details, the development times and ratio for FP4 and D76 is 8.5min/11min(1:1); The 1:1 dilute is 1.29 longer. Using my determined time for HP5/D19(6.25min) compared to D76(7.5min) which is .83. The FP4/D19 comes out at 7min and 9min(1:1). Again, it's a starting point.
