Is DBI compatible with stand/semi-stand development?

Michael, I've been trying to make that comparison but it seems to be almost and apples/oranges comparison. I always check my sheet when pulled from the developer (using extreme minimal agitaiton or semi-stand) just to make sure. So far as I have observed, the highlight areas are not as discernable as they would be if developing in trays with normal agitation. But I have no complaints about the way these negs print. I can't do any better explaining it at this point, but there sure seems to be a difference and its not necessarily a detrimental difference.

Is DBI compatible with stand/semi-stand development?

I had good luck using 1 gallon deep tanks w/ dilute Pyrocat HD, after 1/2 hour pulled out the sheet for a looksie either before or after agitation. I think i put something, and stirring rod or something in the bottom of the tank to keep the sheet of film off the bottom. It was really quite easy.

I'm thinking about a light tight environment for my Yankee Tanks, HP5, dilute R09, hangers, semi-stand or EMA and DBI via safelight or NV during the few agitation cycles.

Seem reasonable?

Imagine a box built out of ABS, large enough to hold a water bath which in turn is large enough to hold three tanks for 4x5 film hangers comfortably. The box would have a light tight lid and the upper rim of the box would have one small notch to allow the lid to sit securely with the cord for my Zone VI Compensating Timer's probe running through the notch. The floor of the box would also be light tight but would allow water flowing from the bath to drain out. I'm still thinking about how I will make the incoming water supply light tight. I'm working up rough sketched for this box and when there's a draft, I'll scan them.

I'm envisioning a procedure along the lines of this:

Something, perhaps 1:1:175 pyro or 1:200 R09...with an N time of 1 hour. Semi-stand/EMA (after initial agitation) consisting of taking the lid off the box and and gently lifting and replacing each hanger one by one, slowly, at 15 minute intervals. Beginning at the 45 minute agitation, a DBI inspection of each sheet at each lift/replace cycle. Sheets would be moved to the stop bath tank as each is finished. When all the sheets are in the stop, they can all be fixed together.

Does this seem like a basis for a sound process?

Forget the box-building process. I just bought these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270076929670

They'll fit nicely in the cescolite tub I use for a water bath now. I don't really need 20 more hangers but the price was right either way, and the lack of a 4th lid isn't an issue. I can use the pre-soak lid during fixing. I'll use the 4 tanks for soak, dev, stop and fix, then use the first, soak tank for washing as well.

I have a bullet safelight on the way. I have lines on two different green filters and I have identified a suitible momentary foot switch.

Zeroing in on a move to DBI. I'm stoked.

Does anyone know what item, made by whom...that I've purchased? I've turned up nothing by googling. Maybe there are makers marks on them...I may have to wait and inspect them.

I'm pretty sure these tanks are a one-off design, either homemade or custom made for someone. Here's a picture and a picture of the rack I made out of PVC to keep them from moving around or falling over.
