You know how they say invert the dev tank 5 times every 30 seconds?
Well i invert 6 times every 30 and my prints are better than Ansel Adams.

Un.Bridled.
Brilliance.

This is revolutionary. Couldn't help but notice your name, as well. ezwriter. The untrained eye may not recognize the clever phonetic parallelism with Easy Rider, but mine is not an untrained eye. It's apparent that the mansion of your brilliance has many rooms.

... seriously ... I laughed. Very funny

Or maybe it would go:

Q: Why not agitate more intensely for the 5 inversions?

A: These (tanks) go to 6!

If you follow Ilford's recommendations regarding agitation, you could really hit the Spinal Tap vortex, because with 10s every 60s, you could easily go to 11 without overdoing it. Much.

It's all because we have five fingers on each hand. Two-fingered creatures would do 100 inversions per 1000000 seconds. Almost the same thing.

try doing the randomized inversion ...
some every few seconds,
some rolling on the sink floor,
some shaken like a citric mixed drink
some just a big slam do dislodge the bubbles
some leave and don't do anything ...

it works, but only mostly sometimes

I have a paint mixer (a la Home Depot). I just put my developing tank in that. It cuts the developing time in half. If you are going to do this though make sure your tank doesn't leak.

I feel like quoting a This Is Spinal Tap Reference when they're talking about the amps.

OR...

6? I said 7, 7 is the magic number....

For really random agitation; put a wide heavy rubber band around the tank to hold the lid on and roll it down the basement stairs every 30 seconds. Also good exercise and gives you something to do between agitation cycles.

I just surround my developing tank with a number of LeRoy Neiman paintings, it gets pretty well agitated that way.

Obviously, the extra inversion is for modesty.

Indeed, most work claimed to be better than AA actually looks as though it has been kicked to the curb.

That makes sense. I only invert mine four times and my prints are worse than those of Ansel Adams!

Steve.

The only "trick" I know is to be consistant with time, temp, and agitation.

Does it work with elevators? Or do I need to adjust time and dilution?

Just a thought, rolling the tank down the up escalator.

It was developed in Holy Water. It's not the agitation.
