yo

u are probably right but people would still argue that the original Budowar would work better than the US version from Anheuser Busch.
Well, that's certainly true if you're planning to drink it! If you're planning on wasting perfectly good beer on developing film, any Anheuser Busch product seems about appropriate.

Personally, I feel using beer to develop film is disrespectful when there are so many sober people in the world less fortunate than we are. (drinking Belhaven as I type this)

I work with the distributor regularly, so I’ll be given a six pack to try, once available in the DC market ( should be in a week or two). I’ve never used any alternative photo chemicals before, but might try developing in this stuff ( as well as drinking some). Dogfish Head makes some fine beer...

Genesee Cream Ale used to be one of my favorite cheap beers. I sincerely hope it wasn’t actually made with water from the Genesee!

I drink my beer! Although, I am not a big fan of beer. I prefer Guiness!

Guinness gives you more control over shadows, but personally, I only use craft lager because it can really tame the highlights, depending on dilution.

I was just given a few cans. Any idea on a development time ( probably FP-4+)?

@BAC1967 posted links to his twitter discussion group, in which various films are discussed, including IIRC also Ilford FP4+.

Thanks. Don't know how I missed his post earlier in this thread. I had a chance to check out his beer developed flickr page. Bryan's results are outstanding.

There is a discussion on my Flickr group from someone else about FP-4: https://www.flickr.com/groups/3705975@N20/discuss/72157701466680234/

I haven't developed FP-4+ with my recipe but other Ilford films do pretty well like HP-5+, Pan-F+ 50 and Delta 100. I have no idea what the development time would be with this SuperEIGHT stuff, probably different than what I'm doing. If they made this stuff to be drinkable and develop film I suspect it's not as strong of a developer as my recipe. I wouldn't even think of drinking my recipe.

I have done experiments with B&W print development in some version of Beerenol (regular lager beer, ascorbic acid, washing soda, Salicylic Acid and Triethanolamine). This thing is mostly inactive until you add loads and loads of washing soda. Nobody should even think about touching this liquid, much less drinking it.

We should be extremely careful with the term "drinkable", lest some imbecile actually tries it out and suffers terrible consequences.
