This question may have been asked before, but I want to know if it's possible to develop Tri-X 135 and HP5+ 120 in the same reel, using the same time/temperature control. I love how HP5+ looks in 120, but pretty much exclusively shoot Tri-X in smaller. From what I've seen, the Massive Dev site lists their times both around 10 minutes in Sprint (which seems a little on the low side for HP5) but would I run into any problems souping them in the same tank?

Thanks!

If you get the results you want with the same developing time, then there is no reason you can't develop them in the same tank.

My experience is, however, that HP5+ needs more time in the developer than Tri-X does for the same contrast, but I'm using D76 and not Sprint.

Good luck!

@Thomas
Thanks so much! Luckily for me, I really like printing more low contrast images, so this should work out just fine. I'll probably bump the time to 11 minutes or maybe even slightly more, just in case.

The results should prove informative. My guess is that the HP5 will exhibit more contrasty images, judging from developing both films in D76, although I never did both at the same time. If you can, post your results here. That would be great. I tried some HP5 in Rodinal the other day and that did not turn out near as good as when I developed my Tri-X in it, but 35mm is more prone to grain than 120.

You can but....

I use both films. The clearing time of Tri-X is slightly longer in my experience so you need to take fixing into account too.
