Developing time for Fuji Neopan Acros 100

Can anyone suggest a sensible initial developing time for Acros in FX-39 (the only dev I have to hand, apart from CM-Pyro which doesn't work with Acros)

I've looked at digitaltruth but don't believe their only suggestion (6.5 minutes and EI200)

Mike,

I can't respond to your present developer but I can say that by using a two bath old Leitz devloper I have had outstanding results with deep blacks with detail and creamy, glowing whites, especially for portraits. I use my developer for 2 minutes at 70 degrees for each part A & B and print using a warmtone paper. Acros has become one of my favorite films along with Efke.

Just in case anyone else is interested, I've settled on a dilution of 1+14, 7 minutes at 20 degrees (Centigrade), EI 100. (So the 6.5 minutes for 1+9 at EI200 may be right!) The base is astonishingly clear!

I may try one of the divided developers later, but this will do for now!

Yes, I've tried various divided devs (TD 200 and BT's 2B) and the results look good. A test in B+W magazine suggested 11.5 mins at 1+19. A little experimenting and you should hit the nail on the head.

Mike, I'm just about to try the FX-39/Acros combination for the first time and wondered if your 7 minute time is;
1. with intermittent or continuous agitation?
2. with or w/o a water presoak?

Continuous agitation (CPE2 at slow speed) with a 5 minute prewash.

just in case its relevant - 120 film.


I haven't take anything critical since, though, only stuff with a limited contrast range. Negs look OK to me.

This is my first time trying the FX-39 as we can't buy it in Canada. I was in one of the well-stocked photo dealers in Seattle yesterday and bought a few chemicals I'd read about but have not yet tried.
